Since at least two people I follow were questioned about their K-Pop blogging in very icky ways today, I feel I should say that while it’s great to be on the look out for weeabooism and fetishization, the assumption that an attraction to or interest in people who happen to be East-Asian = a fetish only reinforces the notion that attraction to non-white individuals represents a deviation from the sexual norm, and thus affirms whiteness’ place at the center of socially constructed “normality.”

First Look of the Day: Thirteen years later, Cowboy Bebop director Shinichirō Watanabe is reuniting with Cowboy Bebop composer Yoko Kanno for a brand new anime about “a naive boy and a scruffy boy [who] share a passion for jazz in a provincial town in the late 1960s.”

Based on Yūki Kodama’s same-named manga series, Sakamichi no Apollon is set to air this April on Fuji TV’s anime programming block, Noitamina.
